Black Country Consortium seeks researchers and Head of Intelligence

Black Country see it in colourThe Black Country Consortium are currently advertising for a Head of Intelligence and two researchers to join their team.

Head of Intelligence

Maternity Cover – 6 Months  (Possible Secondment Opportunity)
Salary circa £40,000 per annum

This role will involve managing and developing sub-regional research, information and intelligence to support and inform evidence based policy decision making across all specialist fields for the company and monitor sub regional progress towards the delivery of the Black Country Strategy for Growth and Competitiveness.  The person will also be required to work with regeneration specialists on assessing the effectiveness of economic regeneration policy interventions.

Specific tasks include working with a variety of partners on preparing for the Economic Assessments, producing a variety of intelligence reports and monitoring Black Country Performance, including assessing policy interventions against the Black Country vision.

Researcher (two posts)

£19,621 – £23,708
Salary dependent upon level of experience
37 hours per week
Fixed Term Contract from 1st April 2010 – 31st March 2011

Applications are also invited for the posts of Researcher.

Both posts will be based within the Intelligence/Observatory Team and report directly to the Head of Intelligence.

Both Researchers will be required to develop, source, collect, manipulate, analyse and advise on sub-regional research, information and intelligence in order to support and inform evidence based policy decision making in the Black Country.

It is essential that the successful applicants can analyse and interpret data into concise, fit for purpose reports for partner use.

In addition, both Researchers will be required to work with the Geographical Information Officer supporting the translation, collation and geographical display of maps for internal and external clients.

Applicants should hold a degree that covers analysis of socio-economic data and research methodologies and have work experience in a research environment analysing data and presenting it in a clear and concise manner.  Experience of using Geographical Information Systems, MapInfo, desirable. Candidates must be highly accomplished in the use of office software, especially databases and spreadsheets.
