The Office for National Statistics (ONS) are holding seminars across four locations in June 2009 to explain the forthcoming improvements to the mid-2008 population estimates, sub-national population projections and migration statistics.
The seminars will provide information on adjusting internal (within UK) migration using data on students. They will also cover modelling the geographical distribution of long-term international migration and short-term internal migration at the local authority level, together with other improvements that are being made.
All interested parties are welcome to attend. The changes will be of particular interest to local authorities and primary care organisations.
The event details are:
- 19 June 2009: Local Government Data Unit conference facilities, Cardiff
- 24 June 2009: Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds
- 25 June 2009: Aston Centre, Birmingham
- 26 June 2009: Royal Statistical Society, London
It’s free to attend the seminars (which will run from 11am to 4pm).
Spaces are limited and ONS may have to limit attendance to one representative per organisation, subject to numbers, with places otherwise being filled on a first come first served basis.
The agenda and registration forms for the event are available from the Office for National Statistics.
