Sharing intelligence from Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire

Yesterday, I attended the Coventry, Solihull and Wawickshire Researchers’ Forum to demonstrate the Observatory’s Resource Catalogue and show how the data and intelligence in the catalogue might support the work that they’re engaged in, and also to encourage further contributions to the catalogue from members of the forum to help share their data and intelligence across the region and sub-region.

The Resource Catalogue is available through the Observatory’s website and collects research, data and policy documents from across the West Midlands to create a fully searchable database for policy makers, decision makers, researchers and anyone else to access. There are contributions from organisations across the public, private and third sectors and what is particularly useful is that almost all are free and available immediately via a web-link.

The catalogue is maintained by the Observatory, but it is built on contributions from partner organisations across the region. The website provides an online form that allows contributors to enter details of the resource that they wish to promote and share useful intelligence.

For example, one of the member organisations from the Researchers’ Forum, the Research and Strategy team at Coventry City Council, are already working with us to contribute the data, analysis and research that they have to promote and share it with others in the West Midlands. This has been initiated with a project to back-catalogue their existing resources which include profiles for each of the city’s wards, their monthly research and strategy newsletter, and other reports including the Coventry index of deprivation report. Once this activity is complete, Coventry intend to contribute any new research outputs as they become available into the catalogue.

My presentation to the forum is available via Slideshare (requires Flash).

Thank you to Louise at CSWP and the other members of the forum from Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council, Connexions Coventry and Warwickshire, CVOne and the Learning and Skills Council for inviting me to join their meeting yesterday.

If your organisation would like to contribute, promote and share its research through the catalogue, then I’d love to hear from you! You can contact me at the Observatory or via email
