The survey was sent to a random sample of 1500 households and returned a 47% response rate.
The survey sought to understand residents’ views on a range of topics including climate change, recycling, housing, health and community safety. Some of the findings are listed below:
- 49% stated that promoting recycling was a priority for the council in working to reduce the area’s impact on the environment.
- 51% of respondents were in favour of more affordable housing being built in the district, but only 30% were in favour of it being built in their area.
- 77% said that they never or rarely used public transport with 17% using it at least weekly.
- 62% claimed to be active or very active in terms of physical activity with lack of time the most cited reason for a lack of activity (39%)
